Hard Candy 100 Race

The “Hard Candy 100” !!

Come ride the “Wild Coast” in the 1st annual Alberni Valley 100km traverse. A grueling and technically challenging mountain bike race which will take you from the beauty and tranquility of Sproat Lake challenging you with a 30 to 35km non-stop singletrack loop full of short technical climbs, flowing downhills, bridges and natural rock features. From here you get a short break to refuel as you head through Port Alberni, skirting the waterfront of Somass River and the Port Alberni Inlet.You then head back into more trail, a mix of double track and singletrack as you traverse the community of Pt. Al and work your way towards the strikingly scenic trailsystem in the Roger’s Creek Ravine. Welcoming at this leg of the race are old growth forests and unique feature’s such as “Hole in the Wall” where the creek works its way literally through a huge hole in the rock wall. After riding the approximately 10km of Roger’s Creek singletrack it is time to gear up for the legendary Candy Store Trails, 30-40km of in your face sweeeet singletrack that will challenge you with tough climbs, technical trails and descents that are sure to sap the last bit of strength you can muster as you flow and grunt through this awesome trail system. “Hard Candy” for sure.

Our advice to you is be prepared to suffer, this will be a challenging course and a tough ride. Everyone’s goal should be to finish, podium finishes a bonus. Any former Samurai’s will know what we are talking about ( I am referring to the legendary Samurai of Singletrack races held in Whistler, BC over 7 years). So we welcome all mountain biker’s who like to suffer and ride and are up for a challenge, come join us for some Hard Candy.

Note: This is a XC mountain bike event although there are some technical sections it is a cross-country bike course.
