Trails Information

Trail Name:  "Ho Chucker"
Type:  All Mountain
Rating: 8
This trail is nice as it creates an almost continuous single-track trail from the top of the microwave tower and links into the last climb to the PA lookout.  You can then take the downhill course to the candy store!  It's a mix of ramps, drops, jumps and has a bit to push everyone.  Probably the best link in this area to ride from top to bottom.  Nice climb to the start if you're opposed to shuttling.

To find it, ride to the microwave tower well behind the "PA Look-out".  Ride just past the actual fenced microwave tower and ride "Top Secret".  At the bottom of top secret the trail turns into Ho Chucker.  The trail ends under the power line where you can follow the road up to the PA lookout.  This trail is new and nearly complete, but dry weather is recommended.  The trail is marked with a sign at the start.

Trail Name:  "Logger's Daughter"
Type: All Mountain
Rating:  7
This new trail's nice as its a top to bottom trail with a mix of terrain.  The start is a bit of a climb, then some up and down leading into a few steep shoots.  This will lead into "The Hucker".  Follow this trail and then take a right when you come to a dirt road which will lead to "Scorpa" on the left (approximately 700 meters down the road).  Scorpa is a nice flowing down hill with views that leads into the log train trail which you can ride back to the candy store.  Pretty nice ride and a good climb to the start, but be prepared for some steep shoots!

This one starts 150 meters past the top of "911" about 1km before the microwave tower.  At this point take the road that heads off to the left.  It turns into the "Loggers Daughter" which is marked shortly after the start with a sign.

Trail Name: "Rogers' Loop"
Type: Mostly X-Country
Rating: 9
This counter-clockwise loop trail will be upgraded to be fully rideable sometime in March 2010.  Several options exist for combinations here, but it can be a 7km loop that takes the rider through the lush Rogers' Creek watershed.  Includes views of "Hole in the Wall", various scenic sections of Rogers' creek, and includes some short downhill sections and some nice climbs.  Varies from quick open trail to tight technical.  Access is from Burde street parking lot at the log train trail, Rogers' crk parking lot, or the log train trail at Maybelle road.  Nice to have a X-country loop in town.  Be sure to ride counter clockwise and try to follow the signs.  Crossing of upper Rogers' crk is challenging and will guarantee at least wet feet in the winter!
Trail Name: Boiler Maker/Cookhouse
Type: X-Country
Rating: 9
This trail is nice because after the climb to it, it is the most flowy XC trail for that length of time on the Candy Store side. You can access it by going up the quad trail called Gutwrenchers from the Log Train Trail after leaving from the Candy Store. Gutwrenchers is your first right, you will quickly see a connector trail to your left after being on Gutwrenchers for a few seconds, take this connector. It is a fake flat trail, that will work you a bit but will connect you to the DH course. Listen for DHers as you climb a bit of the DH and cross a bridge, then take a left onto another connector trail that will take you to citizen's climb. This trail is another workout of climbs and flat until the half-way point, at which time it flows nicely to Citizen's Climb. Go right on Citizen's and enjoy the nicest, most beautiful single track climb around. It will pass a trail called Scorpa crossing it, as well as Homestretch and Cookhouse. Continue on until you get to the end and can either go left or right, take the left here which will lead you out to a logging road. Use the road and its 5 more climbs to get you up to where you may barely see an old, short quad trail on your right. Go in here and stay straight until it begins to descend, then keep an eye on the left side of the trail for a single track trail, this is Boiler Maker. Much reward after the climb to get there as it flows and twists its way down to Cookhouse.

Trail Name: Lake Trails: Pine Line/ P-Break/ Ripper/ Yodel
Type: All Mountain
Rating: 9
First of all, I can't say enough about the different levels and assortment of riding the small area of the Lake Trails offer. Helmets off to the couple guys out there that keep the trails from XC to the more challenging All Mountain ones maintained and full of character. Pine Line, Ripper and Yodel can all be started from at the top of the Pine Line. There are a few options of where you can park but the easiest to find, is at the corner of Faber and the logging road. Once you turn onto Faber r.d. off the highway, right away there will be a logging road that Faber crosses, you can park on the left side. Unload the dogs and bikes and continue biking up the logging road until you see a quad trail on your left, its aprox. 5-7 min up the logging road. This is call Hertel's trail on the map, here you will climb for aprox. 10 min. on rough, washed out quad trail, after reaching the top, you will descend for a minute until seeing a single track trail on your right. This trail will take you up to the top off the Pine Line after a steep, short climb. From the top of the rocky bluff, after a couple roll downs there will be a junction, to the right is Yodel and Ripper, and to continue on the Pine Line you would go left. The Pine Line consists of roll downs and small man made stunts, the Yodel and Ripper consist of a few roll downs and technical riding. All these trails lead down to the logging road that you started on. Now, P-Break is another All Mountain trail with beautiful roll downs, and a few small jumps, and it also leads down to the logging road. It can be accessed at the G-Spot at the end of the Laylong, or by staying on Hertel's trail further towards the end, and you can then do the small top chunk of flowy trail as well which was recently worked on. Definitely, a map is useful for this area, or someone who knows the trails. Maps are at Cutting Edge sports, as well as a contact to a few people who love company to ride those trails, they can also be reached from Healthy Habits.
